Car Seat Expiration Calculator
Car seats expire — typically 6 to 10 years after the date of manufacture, depending on brand and model. Pick your brand, enter the manufacture date from the seat's sticker, and see the typical expiry window and how long is left. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
Your seat
The date of manufacture (often "DOM" or "manufactured on") is printed on a white label or molded into the plastic shell — check the back, bottom, or sides of the seat, near the model number. Use the manufacture date, not the purchase date.

These are typical figures — always confirm on your seat's sticker or manual, models vary. The expiration printed on your seat overrides everything shown here. This tool cannot tell you a seat is safe to use.
Why do car seats expire?
Plastics and harness webbing degrade with heat cycles, UV exposure, and everyday stress, so the shell may not perform in a crash the way it did when new. Safety standards and crash-test knowledge also keep advancing, and manufacturers only certify a seat's performance for a defined useful life. After the printed expiration date, the maker no longer stands behind the seat — replace it, and cut the straps so it can't be reused.
Where is the expiration date on my seat?
Most brands print the actual expiration date (or a "do not use after" year) on the same label as the date of manufacture, or mold it into the shell. If your seat shows a printed expiration date, use that — it is the authoritative answer, and it overrides the typical ranges this calculator shows.
Is this official guidance?
No. This tool summarizes typical, publicly stated useful-life conventions per brand; exact lifespans vary by model and year. It is not safety advice and never certifies a seat. For authoritative guidance on car seat use, registration, and recalls, see NHTSA's car seat resources, and check your seat's manual or the manufacturer's website for your exact model.
Does my data get uploaded?
No. The page is fully client-side; nothing you enter leaves your browser.
