Assumptions & FAQ

What does this leave out?

A few real but minor or hard-to-price things: electricity (an espresso machine draws pennies per drink — a rounding error next to beans and milk), your time making and cleaning up each drink, repairs beyond whatever lifespan you assume, and any resale value the machine holds at the end — resale would only shorten the payback. The "descaler, filters, cleaning" field covers routine upkeep; fold anything else you buy regularly into your home cost per drink.

Are these live prices?

No. The defaults ($5.50 per café drink, $18 bags of beans) are typical ballpark figures, not live data — café prices and bean prices vary a lot by city and roaster. Enter what you actually pay; the math is only as good as your inputs. Treat the result as a planning estimate, not financial advice.

Do you earn commission on machines?

No. This page currently has no affiliate relationships and doesn't recommend or link to any specific machine — it just does the arithmetic.

Do my numbers get uploaded?

No. The page is fully client-side; everything is calculated in your browser.
